Prescription for fever blisters

Claremore, OK(Zone 6a)

Whenever I get my lips sunburned or windburned, I can count on having a fever blister within a couple days. That's one of my most dreaded springtime woes.

My doctor has prescribed a cream medication called Denavir, which is an anti-viral for fever blisters that helps a lot. It is an expensive prescription though, even with insurance........... but well worth it I think.

It has to be applied as soon as the tingle is first noticed, and then every 2 hours for 4 days. It usually won't stop it from forming completely, but keeps it from being the monster it would be without it. Also, shortens the duration of the fever blister.

Instead of one about the size of a pencil eraser, it was only about the size of a small match head this time. And gone several days sooner. What a relief !

I will be more careful to apply sun screen to my lips. Always something I have to be reminded each spring, to start doing. What an ugly reminder ! Ugh.
