Hi all

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been a member of another forum for a while and I decided to join this one because I was finding the other forum pretty unfriendly. I collect mostly hoyas (my collection is up to about 20 or so), and I also collect succulents. I have a few other houseplants (spiders, dracaena) as well. I look forward to contributing to this forum and also look forward to meeting new people and getting some helpful advice when those "hoya" problems pop up :)

Hello Gabi,
Welcome to DG. You've come to the right place because there are lots of friendly folks here always willing to answer questions and share their knowledge.

By the way, looks like someone will be having a birthday soon. : )

Welcome Gabi...we are a motley crew but love sharing our passion(s).

Welcome, Gabi! Lots of friendly and knowledgable people here!

Wow....I'm already getting such a great vibe here! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm so excited I came upon this forum :)
Yes Shirley, I will be having a birthday soon...very attentive of you!

this forum is great.....for encouraging the impulse purchase of new hoyas!!!!

and something even more silly....I've been having dreams where I find myself in a shop that sells plants (could be grocery, hardware store, or dedicated nursery). naturally, I scour the offerings for hoyas. this is in my sleep, people!!!!!!

North Augusta, ON

welcome to the forum Gabi....I mostly just lurk and learn...and keep adding new hoya's to my evergrowing wish list......the people here are the best!!!

Gabi, Glad to have you aboard! Hide your check book, put the credit cards away, and oh, who am I kidding, it won't help anyway! This DG crew has to enable each other or we might have to stop aquiring new hoyas ourselves and as for me, that is just not a possibility :~)

Welcome and God bless, -joanne

Hi Gabi, I'm a new member, too. I agree that this seems like a friendlier forum than the other one as well.

maybe DG should make a crabgrass forum.....for all the crabby people

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Oh, believe me...having caught the "hoya bug" a couple of years ago, I am already in the hoya 12 step program.

I can't seem to stop buying them. My collection has now overflowed into my office, as I have NO more "openings" for new hoyas at home. Guess I'll have to sell my TV to make some room. Maybe even a couch or 2.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'm off to have some fun and relaxation this weekend for my birthday...I think I'm even entitled to buying myself a hoya as a present....
I'm sure you'd all agree :-)

Gabi

By the way, Gaiadisciple....I already have some potential members in mind for the crabgrass forum ;)

Welcome Gabi!!! You certainly are welcome in these parts!!! I have yet to meet someone on this forum that I didn't like.

Hey Gabi,
This is plantaddict from the other forum. They can be brutal but I check out both because there is good info here and there.
Hope it goes better over here. :)

Hi Gabi
Wellcome! I agree with Princess_1. I also check out the 'other forum' but folks here are very friendly. I usually lurk and learn, and only post once in a while. You will meet and make great friends here.

Hi Gabi, Welcome to the hoya forum. I was new last August with one compacta. Now after 8 months (thur the dead of winter, I might add) I have close to 20 now myself, not counting the 8 that didn't make it though the winter.

Everyone here is so nice and helpful I know you will enjoy it.

Sandi and Eileen...I do recognize you from the 'other forum'...nice to see you here.
Sandi, it's funny because I knew right off the bat that it was you (Plantaddict), because of some of your postings here on some new hoyas you received. Hope your Multiflora is doing well! Mine is doing much better.
Thank you ALL for being so inviting and friendly.
Ok..out to buy, ehem, I mean "look at" some plants.
