Cassia Plant question ....

I have a question about my Privet Cassia tree. My tree was growing like a weed last year during the summer when I first found it mysteriously growing among other plants in a container. It has since bloomed and put out seed pods 3 times. It is currently blooming and producing seeds for the third time. I saw a Sulphur butterfly laying eggs on it about a month ago, but never saw any cats on it ..... until today. I found one BIG yellow Sulpur Cat eating the blooms.

My question is .......... I pruned it back and it has not grown any bigger. It's almost like it has stunted growth or something. I am planning to transplant it into a bigger container. I don't think that it is root-bound though. (I can't tell for sure, so it could be.) Has anyone else had any experience like this with cassia? I can't figure out why the branches are NOT growing and sprouting out more. Where I whacked it back, it's stayed just that size. It's weird. Never had a plant behave this well. I am sure that this is NOT normal.

Hi Becky,
OK! How'd you trim it? Did you just go back to new growth or to a bud? From my experience the Privit don't want to be in pots...They prefer the ground. Send me a new pic so I can see what it looks like now.

asafla - The pic above IS how it looks now. So you think I need to actually plant it in the ground? I really was hoping to keep it in a pot so that I could move it around to my garden beds that need a little shade. The error of best laid plans ...............

This plant really wants to be a lanky shrub....You've got it as a standard. That might explain why it hasen't "taken off "as you think it should. But really, to me it looks fine...Give it a bigger pot and make it work for you! Hee,Hee!
