I just recently discovered miniatures. This is the daffodil list, there are others:

My knowledge of bulbs was of the big broken over hyacinths. My wife has Muscari (grape hyacinths) and some little tulips.
Any advice, recommendations, or sources welcomed.

Does anyone have miniatures?
There are some fantastic small bulbs available and many websites. I live in the UK but just to show what's available have a look at www.avonbulbs.com www.broadleighbulbs.co.uk www.miniaturebulbs.co.uk www.rareplants.co.uk and www.bulbsociety.org
UU--here are some domestic sources for miniatures--not as posh as Galanthophile's list, but perhaps a bit more affordable.
Two years ago Scheepers offered a collection of six different miniatures which I purchased and planted. They are a nice touch to the spring garden--I planted mine around large rocks and near the front door. Some varieties bloom very early and are fun to have if only for that reason.

The minis in the pic bloom very early--I've lost track of the ID though.
Thanks Tobasco Road for the American sources. I am envious of the interesting plants in the UQ.
Is anyone interested in trading? I will order some that you do not have.
Can they be planted now or should I wait until October?
UU, I may have some for you if I can make out which is which.
I think it's probably better to wait until the bulbs have fully formed in June or July.
Hi,
I have a couple favorites:
Although it's not quite a miniature at 12-15" tall, I think Thalia is a winner. Compact, with elegant, orchid-like petals. The midseason blooms are pure white -- and fragrant! For a mini that comes early in the season, consider Minnow, which is just 6-8" tall. It, too, is fragrant, with tiny, yellow cups and white saucers.
any pics Davidvt? Sound lovely!
Here's a shot of Thalia. My friend took this at Keukenhof in Holland last year. The Thalia daffodils are used to form the banks of the muscari "river." Pretty amazing. The Dutch growers work hard to synchronize the bloom for the display, but I'm not sure you can replicate this in a home garden.
I've planted Thalia with Emperor tulips in my garden this year. I'm hoping that they'll bloom together because the Emperors are pretty early for tulips. I'll know in a few weeks if I've been successful. We got a few inches of snow yesterday, but spring seems determined to make its way to Vermont.
Minnow will be fine here. Will 'Little Witch' and 'Beryl' be allright in Cincinnati Zone 6?
Narcissus triandrus ssp italicus 'Thalia' will work.
Will 'Little Witch' and 'Beryl' be allright in Cincinnati Zone 6?
Any comments on these?:
Narcissus jonquilla 6 inches tall.
N. gracilis 10”
Tulipa batalinii 6 inches
Beryl
UU 'Beryl' is good in zones 5b to 8a and 'Little Witch' from 6 to 8a according to OHG
http://www.oldhousegardens.com/bulb.asp?Cat=DA. I don't grow either of these, but they sure are cute and I don't see why they wouldn't thrive in Cincinnati in the right garden conditions.
FYI If you are interested in the rarer daffs, you can get really interesting miniature daff bulbs at the Southwest Ohio Daffodil Society Sale at the Civic Garden Center in the fall for a fraction of OHG prices.
david, good luck with your bulb combinations. This spring my 'Flaming Purissima' (emporer) tulips bloomed weeks ago and my 'Thalias' are just blooming now. Go figure! None of my combinations are 'clicking' this spring! The 'Flaming Purissimas' did bloom with the daffodil 'Pink Charm' and 'Christmas Pearl' muscari.
I will want to hear more about your 'duets' as spring unfolds for you.
JanetS ~ what is that little star shaped bloom in your bouquet?
Ipheion uniflorum ‘Froyle Mill’ (Tristagma uniflorum) is the name of the six petal blue flowers...I had forgotten that I "found" them the other day and had to look it up again...lol they are very sweet and about two inches across...
Here is another post with a picture of them...I just love them!

Ahh, looks like what I have here at the new house. The old guy that lived here before was quite a gardener. :) Thanks!
You are welcomed!
