West Bay, Cayman Islands(Zone 11)

Good evening friends from the Cayman Islands!!

It is with pleasure I can announce that I am the first paid subscriber to Dave's from the Cayman Islands. I am currently infested with the Pink Hibiscus Mealy Bug and thanks to other members, such as claypa, they have kindly posted my link to some very useful information. Now that I am a current subscriber, I so look forward to meeting you all and offering what I can to the many forums available to all of us. Thanks to the staff and members of Davesgarden, I now have a home page with real meaning!!! Sorry foxnews.com.....too sad anyway!!!

Hey, there you are! I'm sure you'll enjoy being a subscriber. Take a good look around, there are a LOT of forums, and new ones are added from time to time as people show interest. Here is a link to a recent discussion about starting a new forum for gardening in the tropics, maybe you can put a word in there:

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/710770/

There are forums for tropical plants but not one just for the general gardening there yet. I see you've found the Hibiscus forum... I have seedlings of Hibiscus moscheutos coming up now, I have to make sure they don't freeze, I guess. Maybe they're hardy, I don't know.
Don't forget the faq/frequently asked questions at the top, and you can always ask how something works. If you have a problem of some kind you can use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page and the administrators are very reliable in responding.
Oh man, I see you have your hardiness zone 11 (!!!) already next to your name... that's a great picture too. The closest I've been to the Cayman Islands is the US Virgin Islands. I did a lot of snorkeling, just beautiful... but my skin is better suited to zone4, I got sunburned wicked.

Hi welcome From Milwaukee ,Wisconsin........sharon

BOUQUETS and a big welcome from the prairie! Glad you're here, gardening is definitely much more hopeful, even with pests and failures, it's all temporary and gardens are always everchanging and rebounding. The most friendliest and helpful folks are the ones you find on DG. Remember, jump in as no question too big nor too small. See you in the garden! ;0)

Thanks for the greetings kids!!! My wife and I met on a dive boat and even married underwater....once we bought a house with a fence around it....I dive into the tool shed and hoses and get busy....I can say that I spend alot more time in my garden than underwater nowadays....we still manage a dive here and there but my therapy comes from making dirt into blooms....the camera is always at the ready though.....once the yard is in shape, after the rains come, we will do a bit more diving and if it's ok with y'all, I can post some underwater plants that will make you smile....

Thanks again for the gracious hellos, I look forward to the future with you!!

john
