This group should probably be called the Palm, Citrus and Tropical Society as they feature all. They will be holding their Spring meeting right here in Beaufort, SC on April 21. Beginning at 8:30 am at the Technical College of the Lowcountry auditorium, there will be a brief meeting and a plant sale with some rare and unusual specimens. At 10:00am 3 gorgeous gardens will open for tours. Lunch is on your own and Beaufort has no shortage of terrific places to eat. The afternoon will be spent at Hunting Island State Park looking at the huge palms in the maritime forest.
For more information contact Ned Rahn at plantfolks@yahoo.com or go to www.sepalms.org.
As always, non members are welcome to come and enjoy the day.
Southeastern Palm Society to meet in Beaufort
Just talked to Ned about some cold hardy citrus, didn't know he was into palms. That's next years project, I'm sick of sago's and palmetto's. I'm going to try and make part of my yard a tropical rain forest or at least try to make it look that way. LOL.
You know the bamboo farm down in Savannah has started a cold hardy palm display (farm) not sure what to call it but they want to make it the biggest collection in the South East. For anyone interested. The link I had went dead and I can't seem to find a new one to it. I'll have to look around and see where it went.
This is the only link at the moment. They did something to the web site. http://www.bamboo.caes.uga.edu/
