Anybody here growing Lexy?
I have been trying to get it for years also. Finally last Fall I received a cutting but it immediately shriveled up.
I posted a want for it on another forum and someone anwered and said that I really don't want this one because it has alot of deformed flowers and that most of the people that had it got rid of it.
I have just heard the same thing. I appreciate that. I had no idea it had such deformed flowers. Double yellows are so hard to come by, this one had a special place because of it's name , is also my neice's name, but I don't want to grow a brug that has deformed flowers all the time.
So,, no longer wish to have this particular one. thanks for the help
kathy
I wanted it because it had my granddaughters nick name, but have decided I don't want it either.
LOL, Gues they won't name another one lexy ha? I thought not. If they throw brugs out because their deformed, can someone else use that name?
I don't think so once it is registered, but I am certainly not an authority on this.
I received a cutting last summer, rooted it in water and felt awful when it died after planting it in a small pot. Now I don't feel so alone about it.
Once a name is registered it cannot be used for any other brug.
There's alot of "registered" brugs out there. Being registered does not mean it is a quality brugmansia. Registration helps to protect the name only. Registration has no control over quality.
There's just something about the entire miracle of seeing a new brug flower for the first time that compels us to name stuff in a hurry. I'm just just as guilty as anyone on earth for doing this in the past. I look back and see so many special names that I wasted. How did I waste them? By not giving them a few years to mature. I didn't give them a chance to see if they truly did merit my special names. They didn't turn out to be the greatest brugs on earth.
I sure hope the next generation will learn from our past mistakes. Think quality first and always before you put your loved ones name on anything. :)
