Those rabbits ate my new poppies, the little beeps! I think they got all my germanating seeds. Do scarecrows work for rabbits. I have a fake owl but i think they are trying to mate with it.
Anyone know a good repellent for Rabbits that works?
I've had good luck with Liquid Fence. Stinks like the dickens, but only needs to be applied every week or so until you teach them not to come in, then you can go back to every month or so.I had the proble last year, but so far I haven't seen any damage this year.
I tried it and it didn`t work a few weeks back. I tried some granular thing once but can`t find it, it seemed to work. For the gophers I cage everything but some stuff is just too established to chance moving to cages. Now I pepper all the soil real well to if I plant flowers or something I don`t want to cage. It worked in the winter but what a hastle
I put blood meal around everything, they hate it!! Also, when I brush the dog, I scatter the fur in the garden...they hate that too...so far, they haven't touched anything in my beds....
what does blood meal do to the garden?
Dogs!!! :) Work like a charm!! They even got one of the little buggers a couple of years ago! I don't dare let my mom know though - she loves bunnies! OK so I like em too - just in your yard!!
My strategy has been to plant bunny loving foods near my dogs fenced in area. That works OK - but not perfect though.

mine got 3 last year but my dogs are spoiled and inside in the night and they do not troll the yard if they are out in the night, they sleep on our couch that is out there or wait by the door for us to let their spoiled furry behinds in.
Sadly mine too!! LOL!! Dang those sneaky night-time bunnies!
My mom on the other hand - well she tries to ATTRACT them to her yard! LOL!! She had one a few years ago that would get close enough to her so she could sprinkle flea powder on its back! LOL!! You guessed it - she's not a gardener!!! :)
Good luck with your plants! If you weren't so far away you could ship yours to my mom!
Nicole
they are boxed up and ready to go and I threw a crate of gophers in for free, they look like guini pigs if she`s not a gardener she`l never know. lol
I had great luck one year by sprinkling the plants with cayene pepper. The bunnies never came back....
I have done it in ground but we have bad winds here, hurricane forced ones, lately. I`d have to sprinkle the ground and keep it wet or stick it in something.
I used to think bunnies in the yard were cute. That was until I started finding my tender emerging plants eaten back to the ground! I've heard they don't like Tobasco. Mix it with a little water and spray around beds. I just bought a large bottle, I'll let you know how it works.
thanks . Oh my gosh I am so scared we are having a hurricane right now minus the rain and I`m not kidding and It is moving my whole house.
Okay, rabbits, bunnies, whatever you want to call them .... their PESTS. RODENTS, I say.
(1) Liquid Fence - or make your own ... detergent, rotten eggs, tabasco sauce mix
(2) Find a friend at work that raises German Sheperds, Labs, etc. and invite him or her over to have them run around the back yard. Do this weekly for a month.
(3) 19 ga. rabbit fence (Home Depot). Depending on perimeter, will put you back $200 or so, and it's a task to get it up and running ... but this is almost 100% full-proof!
Disclaimer (s)
- bunnies being chased by red tailed hawks or other dogs in the neighborhood can jump 52 yards straight up! But routine rabbit activity (that which does not involve adrenaline) is covered in this defense strategy
- bricks. have lots. they will dig in areas, generally behind shrubs. place bricks in holes and stomp into place.
(4) CO2 powered pellet guns. A bit of a cleanup mess, but good bonding with your teenage boys.

Rabbit stew?
lol
I was wondering how long it would be before hassenfeffer came into this discussion.
Young rabbit fed with organic veggies - sounds like something that should be on a menu somewhere.
it's only fair - you fed them, they should feed you, right?
mayr bitter apple a long as you don`t overhead water.
