Louisiana Iris "Jeri" and Stella de Oro daylilies.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

These iris were planted last year and I wasn't sure how well they would do this first bloom season. Thanks to some info from a friendly DGer, DMJ, I now know how to take care of them and they're really surprised me with a ton of blooms. Thanks Deb.

Lovely, lovely combo! I adore the yellows and purples together.

Beautiful crowelli! Are they Louisiana iris? I'm a daylily nut, but none of mine have set scapes yet. Iris will be my next downfall! Debbie - I'll spend more time on your thread as well. Thanks for sharing!

Wow those are so pretty together. I have some of both flowers and I'm going to copy your idea. They look so pretty together.

Only two of my daylilies are blooming already and they're both yellow, Stella de Oro and Forsyth Lemon Drop. The Lemon Drops have been blooming almost continuosly since being planted in the fall. I think they actually outperfom the Stellas, but I'll withold final judgement until they've made it through a Texas summer. I think daylilies are my favorite flower because of the range of bloom color, long bloom period, and no pest problems. Gotta' love them.

oh the thread title says "LA iris"... sorry a dumb question... I'll be interested in hearing how your lemon drops do. I have "Happy Returns" as a small yellow. They did pretty well - but the summer heat really stopped them. Again - a beautiful combination!
