Hi all,
I just bought some freezia bulbs for the first time in my gardening life! I've been planting them in pots to get them started and will be transplanting the entire contents of several pots to the garden after our last frost date.
I'm assuming that I should lift them in the fall before cold weather hits ? How do I store them for next year?
Thanks!

freezia info needed
Hi Molly,
Freesia is native to South Africa, and most species grow during the cooler, wetter winter months in nature. The corms you brought should be grown cool and bright (sunny) but not exposed to frost. They will grow and bloom, if all goes well, then go dormant sometime in early summer, most likely. Then they will try to revert to their natural cycle, wanting to sprout in Sept or Oct, grow through the cooler months, then flower in Feb or March. Of course in upstate NY this cycle can only be accomodated in a cool greenhouse or perhaps a cool sunny window or sunporch. During their dormancy corms should be lifted and kept dry until its time to start them again.
Not as easy as glads, but pretty nonetheless. Good luck.
Ernie
Thanks Ernie,
Given how cool our home is and what large windows we have I should be able to accomodate them.
Worth giving them a try!
Thanks a lot for your help.
MollyD
