Has anyone here purchased a puppy online?

My companion of 17 yrs passed away Sat evening. Kasha (pekingese) and I had a wonderfull life together. I am looking for a Pekingese puppy that is sable with a black face. I found a few on the net that I really want. But I have never purchased a puppy to have flown to me. That just sounds cruel. But since I know I cannot travel long distances this may be my only option. But I do not want to be the cause of a traumatized puppy.
My question is " Does this scar the puppy mentally in anyway?" My local vet (very rural) could not answer this for me. I know if I ask the seller, they will tell me just what I want to hear just to make a sale.
I know there will neve be another Kasha. But I am so lonely for a furry faithful friend. Pekingese are like me they do not need a lot of exercise, happy to relax on the sofa, and love to snuggle. Also Pekingese have that little attitude that I love. Before Kasha, was BJ (also pekingese) she was my companion for 19yrs.

Thank you for any input that you can give me about buying puppies online to be shipped to me. I am really full of mixed emotions at this moment.
