It's finished!!

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Most of the plants are in their new home, but there will definitely be some moving around. I ordered some plant hangers and am going to get more shelves. It's like being in a house after living in an apt, it's big, well compared to what I had:-). Kermit and friends worked ALL day getting it finished. I was out at 8pm, moving hoyas in. We're still having problems with the doors, but other than that it's all good!!

What a great big beautiful place to play. Love it. Are you taking the other one down, or keeping two?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

You know, don't you, that it will never be big enough!!!! LOL

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Marcy I sold my old one and the lady who brought it picked it up last week. Carol I know you're right, in six months I'll be complaining I don't have enough room. Truthfully I don't want to have to go through this again. I was having to water all of my hoyas that were under the patio every day, and this went on for a week! I'm still in awe when I look up and see that 9 foot ceiling. Kermit will be working on putting the shade cloth on tomorrow.

Uh why you asking Sistah K? Inquiring minds want to know? Thanks everyone for the compliments they all go to my wonderful hubby! I just checked and my hangers are due to arrive on Tuesday so I'll have several days before back surgery to get everything hung and organized, then I can see how much room I have for more hoyas!

great looking gh!!! But as Carol said "you know it'll never be big enough" more room means more hoyas!!!

This is my hoya house it's (14W x 10H x 26L) and it IS FULL!!! Currently there is in the neighborhood of around 160 hoyas in there even though you cant really tell it from the picture. It's like waliking through the jungle once inside!

I am so jealous as I sit here in my crowded house waiting for the weather to get warmer nights.
Great looking plant places you two.

David that's not crowded for the size of your greenhouse, I had that many hoyas in my 8x8:-). Mark I am extremely happy with my hoya's new home, there's even room for some brugs & plumies. Oh Marcy:-( your hoyas will soon be outside and happy. I've had my plants outside for the past month:-).

I actually had spinal implants put in on a trial basis (7-10 days) to see if it will help reduce bilateral hip and low back pain. It it works I go back in for a permanent neurostimulation inplant operation. Don't even try it Dr. Kitty:-).

Thanks & blessings,

Awanda (or anyone else who cares to help),
Where do you find those small hanging pots? I'm having difficulty finding hanging pots smaller than about 10"-12" at the local Box stores and nurseries. I'd like to find some in the 6" range to repot some hoyas which I 'over' potted in the first place.

I also have some small plants started from cuttings last season I'd like to get into the air. Right now they are in the small 3"-4" nursery pots, but I'd like to hang them to free up some ground space.

Any ideas or links to outlets I might find some small hanging planters?

Thank you in advance.

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Hi Mulletman,

I have also had the same problem..finding those smaller hanging planters for sale at nurseries and such (without plants in them!).

I have 2 suggestions for you. The first is to buy any 6" (or whatever size) pot you want (non-hanging), and then buy one of those rope/macrame things that hold the pot and make it into a hanging plant. I like doing this because you can choose any pot you want. If you don't know what I mean, I posted a pic of mine at the bottom of this post.

The second suggestion is that if you want to buy a bunch of these, I found an Ebay listing of 10 white plastic 6" hanging pots. Here's the link:

Hope that helps,
Gabi

Hi Mulletman
Logee's has small hanging pots, not too expensive. Check out following site:

This may be just what you are looking for.

Mulletman, I just use 4" or 6" plastic pots and snip holes around the top with a 1/8" grommet punch, which you can get at any craft store. Most good garden shops sell metal hangers with three or four wire arms and a swivel hook which can be cut to size and last forever.

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Awanda, keep us posted on how it turns out. I do hope the implants work well enough to get them "installed" permanently!!!
Best wishes to you!
Ann
