I just am starting my first Amaryllis seeds so don't have anything to trade... I just wanted to know, how many did you plant there to get that beautiful clump and how old are they. I was thinking of planting some in my flowerbeds this year.. I have 3 bulbs I bought at walmart that are blooming size.. one is starting to open its bloom.. one bloom died and the other is not doing much of anthing yet but a sprout of leaves about 1/2 inch. I am hoping they will survive here... not right now.. snow on the ground! I cover and mulch anything important when we get cold weather.

Hi Tammie,

I purchased and planted blooming size plants in this space. I have not tried seeds. Each bulb multiplied over and over. They have been here about 8 years but I trade from this space every year.

Let me now how those seeds work for you.

floyd333 - please send your list or photos of available amaryllis

ilovejessus and silkiechick it would be nice to see what you have as well. Maybe a seed trade would be interesting. I know they do not germinate true to the parent but it would be interesting to see what comes of the seeds.

Daisy, your amaryllis are beautiful, I will miss being able to grow those in the ground here, I had some great ones in Louisiana, and I really loved my St. Joseph's lilies, too.

Hi Mary,

Its so nice to hear from you. I am sad that you can't grow these beauties any more but at least there are no more bad hurricanes to worry about. We all must make choices in life and after looking at your property after that mess went through you made the right choice. You can still grow them in pots! :-). Let me know if I can send you anything, brugs, amaryllis, what ever....its yours.

Hugs,

Daisy

You can grow these in pots and they will bloom nicely. Bring them in for the winter if need be.

Thanks, Daisy. I am trying to stick to things I don't have to bring in, lol. On the plus side, there are so many things I can grow here that I could not grow in Louisiana. Planted my first Lilac bush the other day, also have peonies in pots to put out, bleeding hearts, etc., things that I always wanted to grow and never could.

i have to find all my amaryllis seeds there is many i don't have in bulbs but have them in seeds and i know are different from yours also some are crosses. i will go through and see which of what i have available both seeds and plants.

i have about 4 more ready to bloom soon i'm waiting so see what they are also and i have more with buds but different stages along. as soon as i find my cam i'm going to number them and id what i can or at least match numbered plants to pics. that way if i need to post them i know which plant is which. i'll see if i can get the seed list together for you tomarrow it has been a long day and i still have chores to finish before i can get to bed.

sofar 2 look white and 2 look yellow with red and one with pink stripes but i'm thinking they are just finishing maturing before opening so that may change as they do not sure yet. the first 3 are red but different than i expected not sure which they are still trying to name which kind as i haven't found a pic anywhere that matches them. i did notice the one i thought looked like yours is different which is really neat.

i'll try to send ya pics as soon as i can.
night,
silkie
