CLOSED: Wanted : Hidden PineCone Ginger
The correct type I am looking for : "Curcuma Zedoaria (Hidden Cone Ginger).
Hardy to zone 7.
I also would like any Plumeria cuttings. I already have a yellow one.
Any color ....No name needed.
I have one and would like to try my hand at more.
I have pine cone ginger lily--don't know about the hidden part. I don't recall mine having as much inflorescence as the one in the picture. Mine grow to about 5-6' in NW FL with "pine cones" that emerge from the base. The juice makes good smelling hand lotion. Have plenty of them. Probably don't have the alpine.......

You have d-mail!- Kathryn
I think we are talking about two different gingers here. Pine Cone Ginger and Hidden Ginger are not the same plant.
Pine Cone Ginger is Zingiber zerumbet. I think the ginger you pictured is a Curcuma alismatifolia.
The leaves don't have the red stripe of the curcuma zedoaria.
Well the name given to the plant above with the Purple flowers was labled "Curcuma Zedoaria .
They are both beautiful and I was able to get both of them!
I will research the Curcuma zedaria.
Well it looks like I like the Curcuma Zedoaria is really nicer! I have been looking at the different photos.
Can you tell if the flowers are the same? Or they both Pine cone looking type flowers?
The original photo I posted. I thought the flowers looked a bit different. I could be wrong. As I have not seen too many gingers.
This has the same color but looks more like a Pine Cone .
OH! Yes, Now I see. I did not noticed the yellow flower on the first photo. Wow! How nice flowers and a cone!
Do the cones open up as they mature?
Like I said I have never actually seen one before. Just from the photos.
Katrun,
Now, THAT is what I call a pinecone ginger : insignificant inflorescence with mostly a pinecone-looking whatever-you-call-it which smells nice and makes nice hand-lotion. That is what I have.
However, the one in your first picture I have also--or 1 very similar to it. I always called it Hawaiian but I guess I am wrong as no one else seems to call it that. It does have nice lavender inflorescence.
We still got no rain. ...blue sky today. I may have to water the ground to dig ginger bulbs.
