anybody's seed pods starting to soften?

New Port Richey, FL(Zone 9b)

Have you checked your seed pods yet for signs of softening. My Rose Red and my Slaughter Pink are showing signs. One of the pods even got the wrinkles at the end and actually started to split open when I squeezed on it a little. The nylon socks went on it right away.I'm just curious if anyone else has the same signs.

Hi Don, mine got zapped in the cold wave that we had so I pulled them off. The plants were too big to fit in the greenhouse so they had to stay outside.

Leave them alone Don they are getting ready to provide you with fresh seeds..
Pods will get soft and then shrink aka dry out and split open...
This will happen in a 1 to 2 week time frame most of the time..

I currently have 2 big fat seed pods on different plants. No idea who the pollen parents were because I can't remember for sure which plants were closest to each other last year, and they might not have even been pollenated by thier next door neighbor anyway.
My last seeds were given to an elderly man here in town who wanted them. I lost track of him and don't know how the seedlings turned out or what color they ended up being. That was 2 yrs ago. Last years pod burst out into the grass before I noticed it opening. I will stocking them this weekend just to be on the safe side.
