Birth Control Pills

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I read that feeding your brugs birth control pills (mixed in water) will improve the flowering! Geesh! Where can I get some pills? LOL!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

They are only available by prescription here in the states. Can you imagine the look on your ob/gyn's face when you tell him/her that you need birth control pills for your Brugs? It might be worth a try just to see that look. Miracle Grow is cheaper.

Watertown, NY

You can buy them on line, they are not expesive. I get them by mail from the UK for under $6.50 for a month supply. It is good if you can share an order with someone else, they get cheaper when you buy more.

My brugs love them.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

theraglady, do you have a link to the place in the UK where you can order them?

Ya, my doctor may think I've gone off the deep end.

Watertown, NY

I am on my office computer right now but will send the link when I get home. I was shocked at the difference in my plants last year, I kept several off the pill to test the difference.

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

LOL LOL my Dad was a retired OB-GYN. When he and Mom moved into a retierment community he took great delight in passing "the pill" out to all the senior ladies living there!! Gave me some too with instructions to mix with a gallon of water and feed to my plants.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Oh Ginger! That's too funny!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Does this mean the seeds won't germinate when planted? I think I need some of these .

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Great thread! LOL

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

amazing that human hormones can affect a plant.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

This is so funny. I need to find some too.

Cave Creek, AZ

Funny, my mom use to give bc pills to her house plants 30 years ago...they grew like rabbits.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

MickeyAZ, do you come from a LARGE family? ;-)

Orangeville, ON(Zone 4b)

Just when I thought I'd heard it all, lol. Teresa, are you truly keen to give this a try? I might have a pack kicking around from when I switched brands.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Erynne, I truly AM keen on giving this a try. I discovered that a friend of mine is on estrogen patches and I'm trying an experiment. She gave me one of her "spent" patches and a new patch. I have 3 brugs that I grew from seed. The one on the left is on fert only, (and the smallest) the middle one is on spent estrogen (which is the biggest plant) and the one on the right is on the full estrogen patch (it was the second smallest). I wish I had a "before" pic, but I printed it and didn't bother keeping it.

Today....

Oops, if you REALLY can give up some pills, I'd truly appreciate it. I can trade something!?!?!?

Orangeville, ON(Zone 4b)

Hehehehe, a brug on the patch. OMG, this is too funny. Don't worry about trading; just send me your info via dmail and I'll get them to you. This is gonna be the funniest thing I ever mailed out.

Still giggling,
Erynne

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

Darn! I wonder what happened to my pic!?!?!?

Erynne - I'm going to send you a dmail.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I have heard this before and have been wanting to try BCPs too. I wonder if any of my younger friends have some to spare.

If you can send me the address in the UK too, I would appreciate it. Soon my husband will have all the proof he needs to have me put away!

THANKS

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Kell... That is a crack up. A neighbor just found out I bake my soil and she said she was worried about me. LOL I was thinking.. "That's NOTHING! If she only knew!" LOL No way am I telling anyone around here I'm in search of BCPs...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I agree Joyce, the things I have done!!! My husand just shakes his head.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

It's crazy what we do for our plants. Although, I showed the picture of my brugs to our green superintendent (I work at a golf course) and he said they did similar experiments when he studied horticulture... way back when.

Houston, TX(Zone 10a)

That is pretty funny.... When I get mine in the ground or maybe sooner I think I will join the experimentation and try giving mine some "herbal birth control" (powdered fenugreek seeds)... phytoestrogens... I'm new and just picked up a white brug, a pink one (who just pushed a pup out), and a little bitty purple one... so far I have no blooms ( i think i've had them for a week), Hopefully after I sink em in the ground and give them some 'pills' they will perk up, how much room should be around them? (between them)

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Herbal birth control, does that really work??

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I tried to order from Canada, but they required a prescription. :(

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I wonder if menopause pills will work the same?

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

I wonder if Soy powder would work?? lol

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Let's feed them all of it and see if it takes over the world. :)

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

Woohoo.. If you step outside and you hear something say "feed me" just take my advice and RUN!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Jazz , You bet I will be on the look out for it. I am going to carry a big bottle of goodies so I can feed it if I run into it somewhere.

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

Something you can feed it while you run away?

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

How about getting a bag of burgers and throwing them on the run? Everything likes burgers don't they?

Orangeville, ON(Zone 4b)

This is starting to sound like the Little Shop of Horrors!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Erynne, What makes you think that. Laughing a wicked laugh.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I fed my brug a clown... but it spit it out cuz it tasted funny....

Orangeville, ON(Zone 4b)

Lol, oh man, this thread is taking a funny turn.

Seriously though, in case anyone is going to try BCPs on their plants, I would think it prudent to ensure that none of the BCP solution enter the ground or city sewer system (ie don't let any seep into the ground water supply or dump left overs down the sink). Plants in pots with a dish underneath is best. Scientists are apparently linking the possibility that these many years of BCP use in our society are somehow causing mutations in aquatic life. I had no idea about this until I was looking up BCPs for use on plants.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh Teresa!!!!! That was sooooooo baaaaad!!! Funny, but baaaaaad. roflmao

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I tried this and all my plants broke out.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

I've heard this before Erynne and promise that all of my brugs are in pots with drain trays!
