Did I screw up?

Plano, TX

I have a asparagus bed that is now in its second year. The plants are doing wonderful and we have already harvested a few this year and now are letting them grow for the rest of the season. My wife (being from up north) convinced me to plant some rhubarb in between the rows. I am not to concerned with the above ground spacing but I am very concerned about the two root systems fighting each other for survival. They are planted in a well composted and well drained raised bed.
I did not have any idea (being from down south) that rhubarb leaves got so BIG! What are your thoughts on this. Should I move the rhubarb to a new location or will they be o.k. with plenty of water and food?

IMO, it would be better to move the rhubarb before it gets fully established. A mature rhubarb plant can get really big, and so will a mature stand of asparagus. They each need their own room to grow, air circulation, and nutrients. And you don't want to have to stomp all over the asparagus trying to harvest the rhubarb.

Once again I'm in agreement w/ Roseone! I'd move the rhubarb as well, or simply harvest all its stalks, dig up the root, and start over somewhere else. Rhubarb doesn't like being moved, and it's a lot easier to establish than asparagus.

I grow basil with my asparagus. Supposed to be a "good companion" and, anyway, it's gone at first frost.

Thank you both for the replies. I will move it this wekk. It has only been planted about a month and it already is getting big. The biggest on is only about 1.5 feet tall with six (6) leaves that are huge. Should I trim the leaves off before transplanting? Thanks for your help.
