Is it possible you know what cultivar this is?

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I'd be very grateful. These are large flowers and blooming right now so I'd assume that it is an early large flowered type.

Thanks

Its a Mandevilla Vine what the name is i dont no

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks but I know that it is a clematis. It would make a pretty mandevilla though and would bloom longer if it were. Mandevilla aren't hardy here. :-(

I was going to say Clematis. I would post on the Clematis forum. Jeanne is sure to know.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Not fast enough.........was going to say Clematis!

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

I thought it was a type of clematis . . . but didn't know the cultivar . . .

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

What a beautiful clematis! My first thought was Fujimusume http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemdetail.cfm?dbkey=176 but it is kind of early for that one to be blooming and yours seems to have a bit more white down the petals. I will keep looking.

Looks like I was really slow . I was also going to suggest posting on the clematis forum. Jeanne is pretty knowledgeable and good at recognizing clematis cultivars.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I'll do that. I didn't realize that there was a separate clematis forum. I couldn't figure out why the postings were so often about Passiflora. So beautiful.

Thanks for looking at Fujimusume for me. This clematis is pink and Fujimusume is blue but the form sure is similar.

LOL i still think its a Mandavella

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Mandevilla have a tubular throat and rounded petals, clematis have no throat at all. Doss, sorry about that, thought it was lavender (blue). If it is pink then maybe check champagne, http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/64085/ mine is blooming now too. Champagne is listed as non-fragrant but if you put your nose right up to it, there is a really soft, pretty fragrance. :~)

I am absolutely sure that you are right. Thank you so much! I've had it in the garden for quite a long time and almost lost it twice to wilt so I'm so pleased that it's blooming this year. It's on a pillar in front of an hydrangea so I was going to take it out if it didn't start blooming - I think that it must have heard me.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

you are very welcome. It is one of my favorite clematis. :~) Bet it looks nice by the hydrangea.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Pudgymudpies. Now I'll enjoy it even more since I know it's name.

Hi Everyone;
JeanneTx isn't here yet. She however has identified mine, a similiar one. And it's Clematis Asao. Beautiful vines. Bigger blooms, like that of Henryi (white) and other hybrids.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Asao is very pretty and close to the Pink Champagne. The centers are whiter than the vine I have. I sure had to look. Asao gets double in the spring, yes?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Doss;
Asao is single blooming type.

Lily, do the Asao flowers droop back from the center when the blooms get older? That's really the most 'different' thing about this clematis. Asao sure looks like it too. Perhaps it's even closer. It turns out that Asao can bloom double - at least according to the plantfiles but perhaps mine just hasn't done it. So many of the Pink Champagne photos look much too dark for it though.
