Provence Blue Lavender

I'm wanting to try Provence Blue Lavender in my herb garden. Has anyone tried growing it in the south. I've been told that I may be wasting my time with the English group in my zone. I've done well with the Spanish types, but want the sweeter fragrance. Would appreciate any advice from a lavender lover.

I'm no expert regarding lavender in the south, but I have heard that Provence is the next best choice to the "spanish" varieties for tolerating humidity.
