I have always tried to grow begonias because I think they are so pretty!I The first one I think I baked in the sun in a matter of days. There was no label with it. Then, I tried potting one and putting it inside. The leave started dying off and eventually it was a goner as well. Now, here is try number 3. This picture shows the two begonias at the front door. They don't get a lot of light, but I'm always afraid of scorching them again. Does this look like SUFFICIENT enough light? Or maybe should I be trying to grow them in the ground instead of pots?
A question...probably a silly one
First of all, you are trying to grow the kind we can't grow in Texas....they sell them because they look good....the only luck I have ever had with that kind is in the middle of the winter in a south window...they like it 'cool'....don't buy those...they are really florist's plants.
Go find you some cane begonias....or rex begonias...then put them outside where they get strong indirect sunlight...they might take ver early morning sun but nothing else.
The only begonias I ever tried to put in the ground are called dragon wing begonias...I used to grow 'Richmondenses' in the ground...but I would never put my cane or rex in the ground...
wish I could direct you to good sources for reading....try the stickies posted at the top of this forum...begoniacrazii set it up nd she knows everything about begonias as do some others...just not me
