We're due for below freezing temps in the next couple of days (after a really mild couple of weeks). I can bring most stuff inside, but my peas are in the ground:(. They're about 5" high, is there anything I can do to help them survive, or can they handle the cold?
Margo
cold damage?
If there's anyone who can take it, it's the peas. That's why we plant em two months before "last frost" date.

Yeah, they'll probably love it....no worries about peas...
Thank you both! I feel much better, and will now run around and cover (and worry about) everything BUT the peas.
Margo
I know that peas can "take it," but how low is too low? We have forecasted temperatures anywhere from 21 to as low as 19 degrees for the next two mornings. The record lows for the next two days are 21 and 25 degrees so we're pushing the envelope. Mine are just a few inches out of the ground and I also have nice-sized lettuce, onions, garlic, and beets just an inch out of the ground.
I couldn't easily cover the peas due to the fences but I think I'll cover everything else in the veggie garden just for good measure.
Dave.
