Monitor Color Calibration

I am having such a terrible time with my monitor colors. On my computer they are so pale and on my husband's they are neon bright. On one when I look at my photos, I feel the need to lighten them, and on the other I have to darken them. Then when I look at them on the opposite computer the look terrible anyway.

Any recommendations for a calibrating my monitor colors?

I found a couple of programs online and would love some feedback.
