Anybody who is watching eggs on ebay might want to "contact the seller" and give them your email addy. Ebay is yanking egg auctions right and left and will only let them re-list if they offer overnight mailing as the choice for sending. That drives up the price considerably and outrageously for something that may or may not hatch......
I have had 5 different auctions ended (pulled) by ebay that I was bidding on today. Once they pull it you can't contact the seller unless you know their email to try to buy privately.

Ebay eggs
Julie thanks for the update I contacted Ebay letting them know that I was not pleased to hear about this......
There's an auction at www.eggbid.com that has eggs. I know nothing about it other than it exists.
Why is ebay pulling the egg auctions?

I copied and pasted this from a seller after the auctions I was bidding on (by several different sellers were canceled by ebay)
Some ppl are listing egg cartons for sale with free eggs, some of those appear to have been pulled already today. Some are still listed, but they are pulling egg auctions ....
~Julie
below is the copy and paste
BETWEEN YESTERDAY AND TODAY, APRIL 02, 2007, AND APRIL 03, 2007, EBAY CANCELLED 14 OF OUR AUCTIONS. THEY CLAIM THAT THESE AUCTIONS WERE CANCELLED BECAUSE THEY ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE LIVE ANIMAL RULES. HERE IS WHAT THEY WROTE TO US:
"We do allow the sale of hatching eggs on eBay, however, we require that
these eggs be shipped overnight out of concern for the safety of the
eggs. This is to ensure that the eggs arrive to their destination
safely. "
EBAY HAS SOME BRILLIANT MINDS AT WORK. THESE AREN'T LIVE ANIMALS, NOT EVEN A FETUS. THESE ARE THE SAME EGGS THAT WE ALL PUT INTO OUR FRYING PANS FOR BREAKFAST OR INTO THE BLENDER FOR QUICHE! THIS SHOULD BE A RED ALERT TO ALL SELLERS OF HATCHING EGGS ON EBAY. EVEN THE HUGE HATCHERIES DON'T SHIP EGGS VIA OVERNIGHT. THE CHICKS DON'T EVEN SHIP OVERNIGHT. WHAT IS EBAY THINKING? YOU PAY $25.50 FOR OVERNIGHT SERVICES AND THE EGGS STILL HAVE TO TRAVEL THE SAME ISTANCE WITH THE SAME ROUGH HANDLING BY THE POST OFFICE.
Oh my gosh! How ridiculous!
Sounds like PETA is on their back.
There are other sources for eggs. Yahoo groups has a egg swapping group and a Hatching eggs forsale group. I can find the link if anyone is interested.
I don't think this is a PETA thing.
I don't have eggs to swap, although I would be interested in the eggs for sale group. I am talking to a couple of the sellers I was bidding on and maybe when the dust settles be able to buy some eggs direct. Although I only "think" I need them....lol
My chicks I ordered from Ideal should arrive end of next week. I have some brabanter eggs in an incubator to keep me busy till then. Of course the more you look the more you think you have to have. I definitely want some silkies to sit on eggs for me next year....lol. We've got really high winds and some ppl are talking their power has gone out, if my power goes out my eggs are caput !! (I'm at work on break now)
The weather here is turning cold . We're suppose to get snow the next couple days....I just got rid of the stuff and was able to rake off the flower beds a few days ago. It's depressing !!
Several ppl are wondering about PETA with this ebay thing from what I am reading. It sucks.

I can't believe that eBay has their heads up their tails on this one. Good heavens.......live animals? What in the world? Their board of directors must be city-slickers deluxe. It almost makes me laugh thinking about it.
Here is a link to an ipetition that you all can sign and tell eBay your thoughts.

Belinda
p.s. Julie, you might look at www.poultrybid.com for a good listing site for your eggs. Good luck!
I just signed the petition and I'm not even shopping for eggs on Ebay, but I might have in the future.
I look at it this way - all those big fat profits have blinded Ebay officials to what most of us face in the real world. Their continually rising fees and policies like this show they just don't care if they're pricing potential customers out of buying. I guess they figure there's always some dumb cluck (couldn't resist) who will buy no matter how ridiculous the prices.
Texasgardenmom is right !!!! That sticken it to them city slickers!!!
Best of Luck !!!! Tracey
mommagoose, great link. I have signed up and am enjoying it! Active little group!
This I think is what started all this.

Rumor has it ebay has reversed the decision regarding express overnight shipping.... I did look for a post on their site about the matter but didn't find it in the announcement sections at the time.
~Julie =0)
I just did an Ebay search for hatching eggs and it looks like most are back to more normal shipping charges.
I forgot to tell you all, but I was searching for something else last week and ran across an ad that offered free hatching eggs with the purchase of a cardboard egg carton. It was obviously an attempt to get around the stupid shipping requirement but it had also been yanked by Ebay.
I've bought and sold on eggbid,Its been around for years,(use to be eggbay but ebay sued)
I love it!!!
I'd buy from there before I buy off ebay
The site has live birds too
I even bought 2 of my swans thru them
Just check the feedback and use caution, contact seller and find out if they showbirds
(I know many big breeders sell thru there, you can only hatch so many eggs and you are more likley to get qualitly birds that way)
it was found some %^&*#^% people were selling grocery store eggs as hatching eggs so be careful who you buy from
