but I wanted to share a pic of this hibiscus that i've been growing now for about 10 years or so. It is hibiscus "morning glory" I bought it from Logees gh at least 10 years ago maybe longer. It was pencil thin and only about 5" tall when I got it.
I have since trained it into a standard (tree form) that is about 5 12ft tall. No growth is allowed to develop on the trunk,it is all just a nice canopy at the top. This pic of this bloom was taken late in the day and as you can see it has already begun to turn brown around the edges.

Awanda, try as I might I cant seem to get cuttings of this thing to root.Maybe i'm using the wrong type of wood I dont know. I have a friend in Iowa that would dearly love a plant of this and I HAVE tried more than once to root cuttings but so far no luck. Guess I should go hit the hibiscus forum and ask a few questions!!!!
This is the only one left of about 40 or so tropical hibisucs plants that I had,I had to bite the bullet and let some stuff go to a new home last year as I just had way too much to take care of and work 60 hours a week. Trying to maintain 3ghs all full of plants and when I say full I mean a personal collection of over 1000 plants is a job all in itself!! I'm down now to around 200+/- one or two cactus and somewhere in the neigborhood of 150 hoyas and the tropicals have beeen cut back to around 100 so my plant collection got cut by almost half bewtween fall of 06" and early feb of this year when I did some more gh cleaning.
Maybe when I get the cloning machine cranked up soon i'll try some cuttings of this hibiscus in there and see what happens. I just need for the weather to warm up and stay warm so I can get some stuff rooted using this machine. I still owe the gas comapny close to $1000 for gas that I used this past winter to heat these gh's and I desperately need to get some things rooted to go on ebay to help pay for that gas!!!

I've rooted a few hibiscus for friends. They seem to root on semi hard wood best. It takes a long time for them to root. At first, I thought that there was a fungus or something else on stems, but I rinsed them off with fresh water, and in a few days, those things turned into roots. I have a bright original single, a orange sherbet double, and a varigated leaf hibiscus with red flowers.
Hope this help you.
