Roman chamomile in the south

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I'm growing roman chamomile but just read it doesn't like hot summers.Whoops,I'm in hot and humid zone 8. Can this plant be grown where it get's shaded from afternoon sun or should I just consider it a window seal plant or spring annual in the yard?

P My reference books indicate to treat it as an annual in the south? Sorry, I have never tried this one... Good luck! pod

Thanks pod. I was hoping it'd be perennial if I put it in some shade. Guess not...POOH!

Hi Bigred, I grew Roman Chamomile in my herb garden last year in full sun. Required frequent watering or it became droopy. I know now to grow in part shade. Will try again this year. I lost my plant, so in our climate Podster is probably right that it should be considered to be an annual in the south. Good luck!
