I recently bought two hibiscus trees from Lowes. One has a braided trunk and the other is a single trunk.
This picture is of the BACK of the braided trunk bloom. I will post other pictures of the single trunk blooms and other views.
There wasn't an ID label on the pot, just said Choice Hibiscus, very descriptive, huh?

Need ID please...
Hi Susan, I'll take a guess and say the first one looks like Red President, and the second one looks like Painted Lady. They are both great growers and are easy to make more plants from cuttings.

Dave got it first...dang I waited too long! LOL I wish the Lowes and Home Depots up north here would carry some hybrids instead of the same old plants every year.

Wow Susan, that's just beautiful. I love the braided trunk too :-)
Thank you so much for the info. I am going to make up labels that say Red President and Painted Lady.
I almost wish I had gotten two braided trunks. They were $25 apiece. All that were already blooming were yellow. I didn't even know what color this one was going to be, but from the bud I didn't think it was yellow. LOL I love the way the back of it looks like it is painted, it is soooo different from the front.
They are both in my garage tonight. We are supposed to get close or to freezing until next Tuesday. So they are inside for the duration. I have the back of the pickup filled with pots of things that I don't want to freeze like coleus, caladiums, callas, jasmine, geraniums, ferns and all the hanging baskets are in too.
I guess I got a little carried away with getting things out, but gosh when it is 80F you think you can put stuff out. My hanging basket begonias are starting to come up so they are inside too. sheesh
They were just unloading these when I got there, I bet if I went back they would all be gone.
