Our Long Good-Bye

Columbus, OH(Zone 6a)

My little 17-year-old Buddy Lu was diagnosed with chronic renal failure on Friday. She had two fluid treatments, and was given three different types of pills and powders.

None of it is really helping. She ate for a day and a half after the fluid treatment, then slipped back to pecking at her food. The powder she won't take in any form, and the pills go down after much struggling and fretting.

Buddy Lu was always my little "Worry Wart" cat. I hate seeing her sick, and I hate seeing her miserable and scared because she doesn't understand that I'm trying to help her. I just want her to stay by me on the bed, purring and asking for scritches. But I know that we really don't have much time for that anymore. I guess we'll just have to take it a day at a time, until she tells me "no more".
