Any suggestions ???? I have this BIG THING sitting on my deck, and do not know what to plant in it ???? Sure won't get much sun, the top is missing which will allow for some light.Considered swedish ivy.... it is too large to lay down, it will need to be upright. HELP !

How about the "drape" look w/a little mounding plant inside i.e. something that likes little light that mounds in the back the back w/a vine coming out the front -ivy comes to mind (devil's ivy or the like) or potato vine, color that you like. Unless you put it there, it doesn't have a drainage hole so it's going to need drainage so a bowl shaped vessel w/a hole) inside the chiminea. In a way, that would be good should you decide to use it the way it was intended or change the plantings. Lots of shade loving plants that like heat are available. Should you not need the chimney for light you can also set a small pot there for an additional plant that could also cascade.

...another suggestion is to lean it over and roll up your garden hose inside. My brother did that with a large pot.

......and the snakes! Hate snakes!

Thankyou soooo much PLANTLADYHOU . A potato vine is a GR8888 suggestion ! After posting I went outside and tried different size pots in the top and at the bottom opening. I found a pot that will sit in the top and will not show at all, & I inverted a clay pot on bottom and set a short, wide bowl type planter on top so plant will be at opening. Funny snakes were mentioned..... thats is EXACTLY the reason I wanted to fill this chimenea. We were using it to store my grand-daughter's play balls, and I would break out in a sweat when she would ask for them & I would have to reach in there for them ! Now that I know I can fit a pot inside at the top, what about some WAVE petunia's at the top and potato vine at bottom opening ?? I think I need something fast growing......
I adore WAVE petunias! The purple ones would be great along w/chartreuse potato vine. The combo is really striking together.

Sounds beautiful! I planted nasturtiums in and around my little one (maybe 2' tall) and I love the look!
I am going to add some Torenia instead of the WAVE (which I have everywhere) can't wait to see how the chimenea will look in a few weeks.Don't think any of the plants will be getting a good start, will be having cool temps remainder of week, and they are even saying Easter Sunday will stay in the 40's with rain. Don't ever remember an Easter that cool !
A 2' chimenea ? That would be a great size to work with, and it would be easy to move around....Nasturium's, hmmmmmm....that would be a nice addition, sounds very pretty.
When it starts taking off I will post a few pics. I appreciate suggestions and input.
Thanks all !
zachasa, I don't know what Torenia is. At least what the common name is. Pls enlighten me. Thanks.
I don't know about y'all but in my neck of the woods it is too late for nasturiums. Love those plants and mine come back the next year because I don't pull them out before they reseed. This year, because of surgeries, didn't get a lot of seeds planted that I wanted to or bedding plants, either. Of course this is a year when the snaps are particularly beautiful. Oh well, I got some plants in the other day - a few pink polka dots, wax begonias, red salvias and ------G A S P------2 tomato plants in my front flower bed where the HOA is going to see them and their cages because I didn't have anyone to build another bed for me or lift the bagged soil to plant in pots. Welllllllll - I guess I'll just show EVERYone who's the boss of my yard! DDH is already going ballistic which is just tough. SO THERE!! LOL
