Found a couple of these things on my brugs yesterday. Happily chewing in some leaves. I think it is some kindof weevil anyone else seen these things?
new pest?
No clue what that is, but fantastic picture!
Thanks. It is some species of broad nosed weevil now I want to track down the actual species and see if it is native to this area or imported.
I assume you used the compression method of eradication?
Thank God those do not come people sized.
I've got one thing to say..
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!
I wonder if it is some sort of tick looking to drink your blood.
RUN JOYCE RUN!
LOL @ Kell
I have a rule.. I can dig all day, but I only work until I get a big scary bug.. it's a man's job to get the bug.. so being single.. I'm left to battle them alone! If a big scary bug lands on me, buzzes around my head, crawls up my sleeve, or sticks to me in any way.. I'm DONE for the day. I don't do the compression eradication method if it is going to make a noise.. EEEEEEEW
I've had a Praying Mantis up the back of my shirt and get stuck in the strap of my undergarment in the middle of my back... A bumble bee crawl in my Tshirt via the underarm... a big huge scary freaky black water bug up my pant leg.. A horsefly who took a bite out of my arm and stung countless times by wasps... Well, you get the picture.. yes, I'm a big giant gurl who is scared of bugs.
Nice and FAT, looks as if it's been eating well!
Here is a great site devoted to the particular pests that prey on Brugmansias:

Lots of photographs to assist with identification.
