My plants look fine, but before we send out all these leaves and plants during spring, why couldn't I just spray as if I had mites..to be sure....is there any downside other than using chemicals? Thanks...please answer you pros...

My understanding is that you need to spray 3 or 4 times to get rid of mites... Spraying just once might be like taking only a few pills of the antibiotic your doctor prescribed rather than finishing the prescription... You could just be encouraging the developement of resistant bugs.

And the only thing I can think of that would be worse than sending somebody mites is sending them Avid-resistant mites!

Isolation is the best approach to prevention.

I've had the same thought about pre-treating trade material, Betty.... didn't do it when somebody pointed out the resistance issue.

something you could do is give things a neem spray. I sometimes treat pots to a drench to take care of springtails and fungus gnat larvae, if I suspect either of them. Thing is, you don't want to stress plants pre-shipping, either, so don't do anything special right before packing...

Keyring, I just found those gnats Saturday....could someone tell me what neem spray is?? I have heard people talk about it, but still don't actually know where to get it....
