I've not been able to find anything like this on the list of butterflies and moths known to be in my area. Do you have any idea what it might be? Even a general classification of some sort would give me an idea as to where to begin looking.
Note: while he/she is seen here on a piece of styrofoam, the creature is unharmed and simply chose the scrap of styrofoam as a resting place.

Do You Recognize This Butterfly or Moth?
Hmmmm..... don't recognize that one either. Interesting. If I find a moth link that has something like it, I will post it here. Hopefully someone else here may know though!

claypa, thank you very much for the information and the links. I think the moth depicted at the 2nd link is pretty much dead on, as it has both the pale line going across the front from wing tip to wing tip and the "scalloped" edges along the back of the wings.
