Bud failure on double daffodil

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

I have double daffodil that were planted 1 1/2 years ago. For some reason this year though the foliage is full and flower stems seemed normal the blossoms never opened. The tight buds just dried, Not one matured on any plant in the clump. Any ideas why, as all others in the same general area were gorgeous.

If they got caught in the little heatwave we just had, they could have blasted as a result. Some doubles are finicky anyway and the sudden record-breaking (here anyway) temps could well have overheated the buds and killed them.

That is very possible. The weather has been realy crazy with summer temps already somedays. Thanks.

Move them to a place where they stay in the shade or in the woods on the north side of the house and plant them at least 8 inches deep. All this might help. My Golden Ducat blasts about every other year, while White Lion and specially Tahiti does very well each year.,

hmmm. that must be what happened to some of mine. One was a double, lots of green, no flowers.

I had bloom no show on a lot of daff's this year--why? I don't know--we did have a colder and wetter than normal winter, I would have thought they would have liked that.
