Found a flowa bud

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

While removing hoyas from the greenhouse (taking down old one-putting up new one) I found this hoya with a flowa bud! I'm not sure what it is, I got it from Hanne in Denmark several years ago. Hopefully the flowa will tell!!

Blessings,
Awanda

You lucky Girl, that plant is really beautiful. It seems to be growing as a bush. Have you found out what it is?

So Cool Awanda!!! The leaves are gorgeous on their own, but I can't wait to see the blooms.

Hi Awanda;
This is a plant I've had for at least 15 years. I purchased it from Michael Myashiro as H. findlaysonii nova. Later someone named it H. calystophylla and you're right, it has one of the most beautiful leaves in all the hoya world. I do not believe it is in the H. findlaysonii complex because the flowers are quite different and when you come right down to the nitty gritty, so is the foliage. I have had the flowers bloom pink, and also light creamy yellow, depending on the heat or coolness in my greenhouse. Sometimes they will have darker petal tips and at other times they bloom a solid color. It is one of the most prolific bloomers I have, It is also very sensitive to extremely bright light and prefers a slightly shadier spot to keep its beautiful foliage colors from bleaching out. Too much heat will also cause developing flowers to dry up and fall off.

I thought perhaps it was in the H. calystophylla group as well, as I have two clones with some what different leaves but the same, Ha does that make since. I like how Awanda's plant seems to be growing bush like, does this clone grow stems? It is really awesome Awanda/

Thanks for that info Annie. Tami I have another one almost like the one above, but it has stems. If I can find it in that jungle on the patio, I'll post a picture of it!

Uh Oh, looks like a bunch of Hoya Orphans needing a new home. They look like there enjoying there freedom and being able to stretch their stems out for a couple of days. What a perfect week to be switching out Greenhouse's.

MsKitty is out of town so I have to say it for her.... Uh Awanda, Oregon is nice and cool and according to Miss Annie above, that lovely hoya pictured does not like it too warm or bright. I'm sure Ann or I could be forced to find a place for it........... just temporarily. Of course it might only be a single leaf cutting when you get it back :~) -joanne

Oh joanne, thank you so much for the offer in place of MK, but I'll have to decline:-) The hoya we speak of is inside the house and doing just fine, but I will keep your offer in mind:-).
