Native ground covers

What are some east Texas native ground covers.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Hhmmmmm...Native?

Poison oak? Poison ivy? : ))

Sorry, I truly don't know but hope some one comes along that will.

Let me think about it, but Golden Groundsel, Packera obovata, yellow flowers,
Lyreleaf Sage, Salvia lyrata, purple flowers and Cedar Sage, Salvia roemeriana, red flowers, come to mind. I hope that helps.

For ground covers that you can walk on, you could use
Frogfruit, Phyla nodiflora or Horse- Herb, Calyptocarpus vialis. both are strong growers, especially the Frogfruit.
Of course there is always grasses, but I gather you are trying to get away from that.
