I'm fairly new to Brugs only having one before which I killed.
Anyways, I bought some seeds for Brugmansia suaveolens and need some advice on how to start them and grow them on, ect. Any help will be appreaceated.
Thanks,
Steven
New to Brugs
Steven,
I really thought we had a sticky thread on this type of thing, but just checked and we don't. There are several really good threads but I'll have to hunt for them and will try to post links for you tomorrow.

Welcome to the brug forum Steven! There are a lot of threads on starting seed, naturally I can't find them right now! Everyone has their own way that works best for them. I soak my seeds to soften up the outside, peel the cork off a little and plant in soil under lights and a humidity dome. I've modified my methods several times and still get seedlings! :) Good Luck!
Hi Steve, good to see you over here. Check out my journal, I grew brugs from seed last year and had pretty good luck, and kept notes. The one in the photo actually bloomed, but only one (of sixteen buds) and after I had to bring it inside to avoid frost damage.
I have nine, stored indoors over the winter, and they're eager to get outside...
Good luck! --Andy
I would love to try starting some from seed using the polymer crystals like I do with other types of seeds. Andy... your crystals are on their way.
I have learned that most seeds are fairly forgiving and want to grow.

Thanks for the replies and welcomes everybody!
I just started my seeds a few minutes ago, some in a moist coffee filter and some soaking H2O2. I know Brugs are different from Daturas but since the seed looked the same (to me anyway) I thought I'd give it a try. The H2O2 worked great on my Daturas.
The ones in the filter I'll pot up in a few days and the ones soaking I'll pot up tomorrow in plastic pots and I'll put baggies over top to raise humidity.
I picked the corks off the seeds.
Andy, How old is that plant in your photo? It looks very healthy :)
Steven
Steven, the photo is of a seedling I started last year (February 2006) and that was taken in the fall. Here's the link to my journal for this plant: http://davesgarden.com/journal/edit/viewentry.php?rid=86154
I'm hoping for great things from it this year!
Steven the seeds are quit different realy, the Brugs have a hard shell and are larger, the Dats. are smaller flat, and do not need soaking or pealing unless you realy want to. I plant mine in potting soil, and peat moss mix. then into a peat pot so you can plant everything without dissturbing the roots, place under a florecent light and wait, and wai, and wait. LOL
Tammie,
check your d-mail!!!

Wow, those grew really fast for you Andy! I'm going to pot my seeds now and then I'll start the waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
I really have no idea where I'll put them in the winter.....but I'll think about that later :)
Steven
