Please Help - Ill Alocasia

Wesley Chapel, FL(Zone 9a)

This a. wentii started turning yellow soon after I potted it. It's not pot-bound, and it's not being over-watered.

The roots look fairly healthy - mostly white, and none rotting.

The sun is hot here already. The plant is in the sun in the morning, then shade the rest of the day.

I potted it in Miracle Grow about a month ago, in a 5 gallon pot.

It seems to be more yellow every day.

I've prepared a garden to plant it in -the garden will be ready in a couple of days. I don't know whether to plant it, or to wait and see if I can figure out what the yellowing is about.

Any ideas?

Dear All-
It is possible that those brown spots are signs of leaf fungus? If so how do you treat it?

Could the yellow be chlorosis? Should he treat with iron?

Or could it be leaf burn?

Wow, I've gotten bad bags of potting soil before, did you repot anything else with that same soil?

I think it just might not be adjusted to the area. A lot of times leaves will adjust to were they have been growing. Take a Alocasia from the house and put it outside the leaves burn but the new leaves will be more adjusted to the area. I would wait to see how the newer leaves handle it.

I agree with Brian, every year Im in too much of a hurry and end up getting alot of funky leaves but all the new ones look fantastic.

I think the weather we have been having may have something to do with this....several of my plants in the yard look the same and are recovering. My really big EE's did too. Both the ones in the ground and baby's in pots.
I put them all in the ground last week and the new leaves are looking normal now.
We had cold wet, then hot , then cold, then dry hot all since Feb. I was bringing stuff in and setting it out over and over.
I had stuff in Jan trying to bloom early then it would get cold. It's been an odd winter for us.
My A. wentii looks fine tho and I just put it in the ground last week.

Thanks everyone. It's going in the ground this week; I'll wait and see how new foliage looks.

Well, I've finally gotten everything outside, now they say maybe a freeze or frost this week end.

I hear ya I hate this weather every year a late frost that messes it all up. I will be moving stuff all day tomorrow and covering things up.

We had that here, too. Several days in the 80s, then a night of frost. Plants were very confused.
