I hope they grow for you. I just planted my PLM in the ground a couple of days ago, and have my fingers crossed that it takes off - it's a beautiful vine.

I planted my Lady Margaret about a month ago and I have had a succession of blooms for the last week. There are lots of baby buds developing. It's a lovely flower.

Waiting for "Blue Bouquet" to bloom.

"Incense" has more buds than I can count.

It has always been my understanding that Passiflora 'Lady Margaret' does not produce viable seed, either self-pollinated or crossed with another. It's a hybrid that can only be propogated by cuttings. I welcome any comments to the contrary.

That said, P. 'Lady Margaret' is a fabulous Passiflora to grow. It grows like a weed, blooms readily (mine has bloomed continously all winter in a bright window, and I live in Minnesota!) and is not fussy about watering. The flowers are a stunning deep red and are prominently displayed.

Well we will find out if the seeds are viable i belive gordo may have grown from seeds paul

Lady Margaret is a cross between coccinea and incarnata (cross those 2, plant the seeds from the resulting fruit, and that will give a plant that looks like a Lady Margaret). One thing I don't understand about hybridizing, is how similar the blooms from the hybrid seeds will be. Apparently in some cases there is quite a variation, and a breeder who is trying to develop a new hybrid will select only 1 or 2 vines from numerous hybrid seeds. These are then propagated by cuttings for sale to nurseries. For example, some German nurseries list 4 varieties of amethystina.

I have some coccinea seeds on the way to me, and will try my hand at making a home made Lady Margaret if the seeds germinate and bloom.

I just received the book Passifloras of the World, and checked the hybrid list. Lady Margaret was not listed as a parent in any of the hybrids, so maybe it doesn't produce viable seed. But I always thought that failed pollinations produced either no fruit or empty fruit rather than non-viable seed. So I wouldn't give up on these seeds just yet. What other passies do you grow Paul?

Mark

I have two crosses growing.
P. "Lady Margaret" x P. nephrodes
P. "Lady Margaret" x P. caerulea.

I have two pods on board: PLM x P. eichleriana "Mauro Peixoto"
PLM x P. loefgrenii "Iporanga"

I usually don't get more than two or three seeds from a pod - if I get seed at all (lots of empties).
