Last of the Tulips

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

These are nearly the last of my tulips for this year. Really pleased that almost all the bulbs that were planted, bloomed out. But, since they were new this year they should have. I'm going to dig and store them for next year; again the first time I've done that, so I'll see next year if it'll pay off. I'll store them in burlap; in a cool spot..which may be hard to find in Sacramento!.. How should they be stored; in the refg or air-dried?

They are beautiful; they look great against the greenery. Sorry, but I don't know about saving them. But, seems that a cool place, for sure. Good luck.

What cultivars are those? They are very nice selections.
Mona Lisa, Lambada, and Ballerina?

Home refrigerators can be dangerous for tulip bulbs!

Storing cool is important, but don't put tulip bulbs in your refrigerator that also contains fresh food. Ethylene gas given off by ripening fruits and vegetables can severely damage the flower inside the bulb. Google " ethylene gas tulips" for a list of articles.

Chris, thank you for the info. I think I'll store them in the pump house, it stays cool.
