Pro Mix Source?

Does anyone know of a place to buy Pro Mix where it isn't exceedingly expensive? I love using it for containers but have not had good luck finding it. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time looking.

I think I paid $28 for one of those big compressed bales at Dutch Plant Farm here in Frederick (on Baughman's Lane, just off 40, behind the plaza with JoAnn's). Occasionally, I've found it for about $5 less at Home Depot, but they get one shipment once during the season, and it goes fast.

$28 is also the price that I paid for a compressed bale in Sterling, VA. If you can't find it at your favorite garden centers, then I suggest that you look for nurseries that grow a lot of plants themselves. I have not seen any at the Home Depots near me for the past few years.

Thanks very much for the responses. Last year at the garden center where I generally buy plants, I believe I paid $35 or $36 for a bale of Pro Mix. I was told that Home Depot carried it but I could not find it there last year. Now I know that I shouldn't have to pay more than $28 so I will continue looking -- or drive to Frederick (unless I determine that with the current price of gasoline it would cost me more than I would save on the Pro Mix!).

Come to Frederick! And stop by for coffee! ;-)

I'll take about any excuse for a little swing up to Dutch Plant Farm, LOL.

Really, if anyone is heading up this way, Dmail me -- it'd be fun to hook up!

I'm always up for a road trip, and coffee, and garden shopping!
