Plant Pink Flowers for Cancer Awareness

Rockford, IL(Zone 5a)

Our community is encouranging residents and businesses to plants pink flowers throughout the city to promote cancer awareness. I thought it's a lovely idea, not just for our community but for yours too. Grow your pink flowers by your mailboxes or designated area to show your neighborhood for support in this worthy project. It will beautified your community at the same time encouraging support for cancer survivors and memories of those that lost the battle, but knowing they're always be rememembered.

It's a great way for girl/boy scouts to participate in the community by growing these plants and help raised money for cancer research through the American Cancer Society. (Just a thought!)

bumping this thread back up so folks can plan for a spring planting!
What types of pink flowers did you plant? Do you have any photos to share?

I planted some "pink" snap dragons, carnations, impatiens, there's some others, I just don't remember at the moment.

Last year I planted a 250-foot stretch of pink cleome along a parking lot, specifically to recognize my mother and sister who are both breast cancer survivors. I'm hoping the plants reseed themselves. They are notorious for this, but if they don't I will plant this glorious spectacle again. This year I am planning to put in Heavenly Blue morning glories to grow up the fence and bloom above the cleome.

Very pretty. The morning glory background will be a nice touch.

You can't go wrong with pink cosmos (I think), and they do reseed.
