Cocci and enteritis sufferers improving.

Abbotsford, BC

Hey all, my two hens (brown Bovans) have been steadily improving with Gallimycin, Amprol, and Stress-aid in their waterers last week. The smaller girl (Chocolat), was failing at the end of last week and I was certain I would lose her, then I did a little healing touch therapy with her (am a people nurse too :)), and the very next day she started taking an interest in her food and water!
I had to hold the waterer for her for a couple of days, but on Sunday we had a breakthrough and she stared just drinking on her own Yay! Both girls still have runny bottoms (dripping like little taps with water-like fluid), although the larger hen (Daisy ) has been laying eggs daily with no problems. Just wanted to let you all know things are looking better.
I also had 1/2 dump truck of sandbox grade sand delivered, which is a vast improvement, no more muddy tootsies, and easy to poop-scoop.

Becca, so glad to hear you are on the "up side" of danger. Hooray for that! Your chicks are blessed to have a nurse mom! Great job!
That sand is wonderful for scoopin' poop. It works better than anything we've ever used and so affordable!

Yes, I'm very happy that they are improving. Chocolat however has been straining lately with great effort and I am wondering if she is either constipated, or egg-bound? My hubby and I did a little recon mission yesterday, and I thought I felt an egg, he says it feels like muscle, just to the right of her oviduct. She has also been pooping very little, with poor intake over the last week, and looks so uncomfortable. We were thinking of giving her a little chickie enema with warm water and diluted people microlax. Just a small volume (5 cc) to start her going again. I don't want to mess too much, but she needs some relief.
Also do you think its better to clip dirty feathers from their previous diarrhea, or just wash them?
