Help! Where Are They?

Jefferson, GA(Zone 7b)

Okay, I can't sleep and thought I may as well be productive.

Last fall I bought a pack of 3 varieties of crocosmia bulbs. Emily McKenzie, George Davidson and Lucifer. I put all 3 out and some started to come up even though it was the wrong time. Again, some are starting to come up. All but one batch, don't remember which but it also didn't come up with the others in the fall. So I go out there poking around trying to figure out the problem. NO BULBS! What happened? I am not crazy and I know no critters got them or I would have seen them and no one stole them. Also, if it were critters, would they be so selective as to only eat one variety when the others are so close? I can't find them anywhere and I know I put them in. I don't even see anything that looks like rotted areas or partial roots. NOTHING!
Can anyone tell me what may have happened here? I think it is the Emily McKenzie's that are gone.

ga_peach,

my guess is they rotted. That's what happened to mine...

I think the animals do like them too...

If you have squirrels, as I do, they might have dug up the bulbs and buried them somewhere else last fall. That happens a lot here, accounting for two mixed beds when you planted two single-colour beds!

That's funny! Imagine your thoughts when you see them coming up and it isn't what you put there. How long did it take for you to figure out it was the squirrels? That one would have driven me batty.

No, I posted another thread about them and now I found out. They rotted almost as soon as I put them in. Those and some other stuff I bought from another company (rating of 17 on watchdog!) were all duds. I am in the process of trying to get everything replaced or something.
