I guess this question is marginally gardening related, but I was hoping someone could help me out...
Growing up in Michigan, I have many fond memories of family trips to the apple orchards. Visiting my parents up their last year, we took my 3 year old daughter to one of them and she absolutely loved picking the apples. My parents just moved to Texas a few months back, so we most likely won't be up to Michigan very frequently and it is time to establish a new family tradition. My question is whether anyone knows of any good places to pick your own fruit in the DFW area. Any sort of fruit would be fine: apples, blackberries, whatever.

Pick-it-yourself
Dennis - it's a wonderrful tradition! I wish that I could help you out for your area but I'm in the Houston area. I know of a ton of places around here...I do this every year with my DD and her family of extended friends. That's probably too far to drive for you. I hope someone can answer and start you off in the right direction.
We've got a ton of fruits and veggies you can pick yourself but don't know about the DFW area. Someone up there will undoubtedly help you. Several DGers come to mind up there.

Dennis, there are places out in east texas where you can pick your own blueberries and blackberries.
Here you go. I just found the perfect link... http://www.pickyourown.org/TXdallas.htm It looks like there is a place not too far away in Roanoke. Also this link... http://www.pickyourown.org/TXnortheast.htm#listings

We're going to try the King's Orchard this spring. It's near Magnolia, TX near the Texas Renaissance Festival. I know right now they're picking strawberries, but they have flower, veggie, and fruit picking available.
Thank you Guys, this is good information to have.
Not in DFW area but not too far south (ok in Texas that is relative).
