I have followed Rachelsreflections to a T and gotten good results....this picture may reveal why you have a new plant with a missing leaf (tee hee, ).....I am going to start about 40 new leaves on Wednesday...show us yours...doesn't get any more fun than this.

Is anyone missing a leaf on a new shipped plant????
Is she the one that scoops the middle of the potting mix out and replaces with vermiculite?
It's great fun, i've been potting up my first ever AV babies!!
Debbie
She says use straight vermiculite to propagate...which I do....with water kept in the bottom of each little container until they really get rooted well....these are new so they are sitting on the top shelf where it is warmer......the leaves that have already gotten good roots are sitting in these same containers but no water in the bottom.....I got so excited yesterday that I gently scooped one out and there were little baby leaves ....I quickly got a spoon and scooped out the vermiculite around the roots, stuck the leaf back in and added the vermiculite around it again.
In response to your question, yes, she says when you pot it up in whatever mix you use, scoop out the vermiculite around the root system and place the new plant with the old vermiculite right into the new soil....we shall see!!! Isn't this fun?????????
Oh Gail: I didn't know you were starting a "Nursery"! Love it! I need to go read that Rachael's Reflections's Article again! I have never tried the "just vermiculite" method of rooting leaves and think I will give it a try. I always just stick them in soil and have about a 50/50 success rate that way. Maybe I will have better success with just using vermiculite ... I'm gonna try it!
Thanks for posting this!
