I was in Walmart yesterday and they had got some new minis in and I really need a lot to fill up my new terrarium. So I bought 5 different ones. One of them is the strangest thing I have ever seen. One leaf is a fantasy bloom, one is half fantasy and half purple, and the other one is all purple. I've never seen anything like it, especially in a mini. I will show you two photos of the first plant so you can see what I'm talking about. In this photo you can see the fantasy bloom.

Wow Jesse, You find the most Beautiful AV's! I sure wish our Wal-Mart would get them in! Seeing all of your Gorgeous photo's makes me want to come to N.C. to shop at Wal-Mart! That Fantacy Bloom AV is really a Knock Out! Very unusual but oh so pretty! I have a question about your terrarium. Does it have a lid and if so, do you keep the lid closed all the time? I have a 10 gal terrarium that I just planted the beginning of the month and I put one AV in there, but just pulled it out a couple of days ago because the flowers were getting mildew or something on them. I figured it was too close to the light and it was so humid in there with no air circulation that mildew formed. No other plants seem affected, just the AV. It was the first time I had tried an AV in a Terrarium.

Jesse, I just found 16 little Av's at a nursery in the tiniest pots I have ever seen...I thought the growth pattern was because they had been kept in the little pot too long. I wrote Allison and she says she thinks they are all mini's....what size container were yours you found in???
Gail: I bet your's are all mini's .... you should send photo's to Allison, I bet she could identify most if not all of those babies for you. She's one smart lady and I sure miss her knowldedge and wisdom regarding AV's.
I did send them to her and she says there are all semi-mini or mine.....all of them and that they should be kept in pots never larger than 21'2" which of course I don't have right now....she said that I could order them from secretgardens which I will do today......I am going to wait a couple of weeks to take close up pictures and see how much more she can figure out....she also said that these light variegated ones sucker worse than others...I am like you!!!! Until I know what I am doing I am afraid to touch them...I saw what happened to your beloved 'Annabelle'.......
I also want to start leaves soon this week which I will do.....
When I started all my other leaves (noids) I didn't even try to mark what they were....on your 'Annabelle' I did mark them ......maybe later this week Allison can identify each and every one so that I can mark what I have propagated...hate to add too much work for her, but she seems to enjoy doing it....
I just remembered that she said to watch for overfertilizing....makes the suckers worse...

Your fantasy mini looks just like my Rob's Boolaroo trailer, and the blue like my Rob's Lilli Pilli trailer. As far as the fantasy bloom turning solid on the same plant, my Mac's Carnival Clown is doing the same thing right now. Looks like the fantasy sometimes mutates into bi-color. Maybe the hybridizers in the group can affirm or explain...

I looked for AV's at HD and Walmart yesterday...no luck. I was wanting to join the AV leaf trade but only have 3 AV's :~( Maybe next time. I'll keep eyes open for more local AV's or maybe I'll get some in the trades I'm getting ready to start.
Great find on all those minis! Want to put some in the terrarium eventually.
