Hoooray - I'm taking the day off tomorrow. I have a Vet' appt. in the morning for spring shots, coggins, and hock sore inspection.
Which reminds me... I was at our local Southern States (farm store) the other day to pick up alfalfa pellets for use as a garden fertilizer, not horse feed. I was browsing their horsey canned goods and asked the saleswoman if she had any experience with hock sores and could she recommend anything. Of course, the answer was no. It's always "no." A customer then came up to me and asked if I had hock troubles with my horse. Turns out that she, too, had a mare with chronic hock sores (she's the only other person I've ever met to have experienced this). She went through all the things that I've been doing, then finally decided to try 'spray on bandage' for humans. She said she would wash the hock, then spray it a few times a week... she kept at it for about *four months* but it eventually healed. That was a few years ago. Now if she sees the sore coming back, she starts the regimen again and nips it in the ... hock.
I took this photo today. It cracks me up. Totally dumb. Not sure if you can see the paved path through the fence, but she'll sit for hours like that just staring at the old trolley path where people walk their dogs. She then screams obscenities at all canines who pass ~her~ Manor...
