Busy, busy weekend! Stop by and check it out! :-)

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, do I have news for you guys..............since Friday, I have "upped" my flock, by quite a few! First, I ordered several guineas online a while back, and they got here in perfect shape, quite hungry and thirsty, but very happy and healthy. I have 16 keets and they are the busiest things I have ever seen! Check them out!

And then.............I found a breeder in a nearby town, who has over 1000 birds of various types and I couldn't resist! lol I ended up with:
8- Mille Fleur Bantams
6-Non-Bearded White Crested Black Polish Bantams
3-Blue Cochin Bantams
3-Partridge Cochin Bantams
I put them in the brooder with Lucky, Ditto, Pete, Repete & Max, and the poor souls were scared to death. Huddled up in the corner, giving me the most pitiful looks ever. They were looking at me like, "why Mom, why"?????? LOL They are all too cute....take a peek!

Here is Phyllis, as my DH appropriately named her! lololol The top-hatters, I think may be one of my favs! So, as you can tell................I've been a busy, busy, lady the past couple of days! I couldn't wait to share my good news with you guys! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow!

They are so cute!!! They don't even look real, they look like fuzzy little wind-up toys. You sure are busy! How many total now and how loud are they all when they decide to 'chat' at the same time?

Laura

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

lol, Laura! They do indeed look like fuzzy little wind-up toys...........but thankfully, they don't make noise like them! :-) Actually, the "Phyllis" type are quite as can be. I've found the guinea keets to be the noisiest. We are now up to 66 total live birds, and I currently have 108 eggs in my three incubators, and two more dozen on the way this week! How about that for some noise??????? lololol I'm wondering now when in the world I am going to have time to garden!
Belinda

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Man Oh Man!!!!! I thought i ws busy! Girrrrrrrl, are you growing extra arms yet???? the new babies are precious! I envy all! The guineas the most ! they are something I definitely will be getting!
Laura , they do look like little toys,or the little fat Penguins in Happy feet!
My new babies should be hatching as we speak at the Meyer hatcheries! I expect 25 tiny assorted Japanese Bantams on Wednesday! I've been sterilizing the brooder and food and water jars. Getting all set up , again for BABIES!!!!! The Older kids have already moved into their Barn housing and "Tractor" run! They love the new space and openess!
Have you all seen on the Farm forum, the beautiful Blue Laced Red Wyandotts???? I'll have to go check it out again, to get the posters name. It is an older post , and at that time everyone said the Hatcheries were out or didnot carry the variety!!! I have fallen in love with them , Gotta get me some!!!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

It was the Farm Life Forum and Cottage Rose has the Blue laced Red Wyandottes! Check them out!

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Eufaula, I NEED extra arms to get everything done around here!!!!!!!!! e-yikes! Can't wait to see you new babies from Meyer. Be sure to post us LOTS of pics! I have seen that pic of Cottage Rose's Wyandotte and yes, it is beautiful. eBay has several of that variety of eggs up for bid and they are reasonably priced! Do you hatch your own eggs? Let me know and I'll track you down a good breeder. Thankfully, I've got lots of connections online with breeders. Helps me know that I am getting "true to breed" chicks. Hard to find these days, huh?
I'm off and running for a while...........I've GOT to clean out brooders today. UGH. My guineas are the messiest little critters I have! Heaven sakes, I just cleaned their brooder on Saturday - - - they are fun to watch. Eufala you definitely need some! lol
Hope all of you have a great day and I'll check in later this afternoon!
Belinda :-)

Belinda, My Old Mama B.Rock, just hasnt decided to set so far ! I've tried the incubator thing and I never have any luck! I have the Styro Bator but it quit on the 12th day, just burnt out, 12 bantam eggs gone!!!! I tried with the tiny round one from GQF,no luck! I decided to order and hope for the best and it has been the best way for me! Although having a decent "bator" with all the bells and whistles would be so nice! I just dont have the Mechanical skills that you obviously have, or I would try to build one!

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

I hate to hear that you've had such bad luck with bators, Eufaula. They truly are a joy to have WHEN they work correctly. :-) I wish I could share my carpenter and electrical knowledge with you, so that you could whip yourself up one real fast! :) I currently have three homemade bators up and going and I'm working on a fourth one in the shop right now. Just can't seem to find enough time in the day anymore..........did you check with Meyer on the Blue Laced Red Wyandottes?

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Nope , didnt check them yet! I just recieved my new Japanese Babies!!! Tooooooo cute, so small and delicate! I am going to be working with them for a few days just to get them settled in! New Thread a'comin!!!!!

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh Eufaula - - - I love them! Can't wait for the new thread. Any new names yet?

Here is the latest pic of my brooder babies........they are already getting so many feathers! Lucky (the splash colored one) is NOT thrilled with the new chicks invading his quite home. lol He is SO funny to wach. He will lead them around all over the brooder, scratching and acting like he has found something - - - and then takes off running like a maniac! lmbo. Too cute.

Belinda,

Your babies are so sweet! You have so many of them! How do you keep up with them all!

I can't wait to see more pictures as they all grow and more eggs hatch!

Laura

Antrim, NH

What are you going to do with all those chickens, dear? are you going pro? :) I'm so madly jealous. Some day I will win the lottery and I will be a crazy chicken lady in a chicken mansion and I will have every kind of chicken. and perhaps I will train them to do tricks! I can't wait for my babies to come!!!!!!

What kind of chicken is Phyllis?

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Hey all you Texas Chickens, Hope you dont get any of that BAD weather were hearing about!!! Stay Safe, Y'all!!!! That goes for all of you , Everywhere!!!!!!

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

Laura - - - so far, I have no problem keeping up with all of them. They each have their own markings, or disposition. Maybe I can hold things together enough to make it through my next few hatches! lol

BackyardHens - I am a chiken-aholic (lol) as my friends would tell you. No, actually I sell organic and fertile eggs on eggbid and eBay, simply to fund my feed bill! No pro here, just a chicken lover who loves her farm life! :) Don't laugh, but my little "Annie" responds to "clicking" commands already! Too cute, wish I could share! Phyliss is a Non-Bearded White Crested Black Polish Bantam. She is a cutie!

Eufaula - - we are having TERRIBLE weather here today and yesterday. E-Yikes, at the hail and winds.............I'm having to double tie everything down, and so far we are up to almost 3 inches in a 24-hour period. UGH. UGH. UGH. I'm NOT loving this weather!

Thanks nicksmom~ I will have to check yours out! :)

I wanted to share a pic of my dreadful flooding that we have had over the past few days. This is normally a very shallow, simply flowing creek on our place, that you can walk across easily. It now in many places is out of the banks and flowing fast enough to be dangerous! I'm SO glad the sun is trying to peek through today. Hooray for that! :-)

We got only and hours worth of rain Sunday! Hardly a drop soaked into the ground I dont believe! Im having to water my garden just to get the seeds to sprout and the plants from falling over!

We Love Hummers too! I saw the first really hungry one last week! I walked outside in a Really red Hawaiian Muumuu , and this little ruby Throat thought I was a flower! He dove at me , and decided at the last moment he better sit in a tree and think about it first! He looked as if he were saying" thats a really BIG Flower, It might eat Me!"

Antrim, NH

I just enjoy thinking about you waltzing about in a red muumuu. I'm sure you were quite the blossom.

That sort of thing isn't really an early April in NH thing to do.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

It's raining here again today, and then tomorrow it's going to snow again. YUCK. I've been cleaning beds and now I have to cover a few things that started to grow to soon. We don't see hummingbirds until mid May around here.

Robertsville, MO
