A new love!!!

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I think I've found a new love!!! Hanging baskets for my hummers! I have flowers planted in my beds, and I have feeders hanging from my tree, but this morning the neatest thing happened. I bought some hanging baskets yesterday, with a few plants to put in them. I wasn't thinking hummer specific when I chose the plants. I just wanted something that looked nice together. Well...this morning, barely a half hour ago, I was out doing some arrangements, and no sooner did I get the baskets hanging...here she comes!!! My porch is not that big. I was sitting on my bench, maybe 4ft, if that away from the basket and she came searching. She/he, whatever it was, was having a feast. Then she was flying under the porch, right over the top of my head, looking for more! She went back to the basket, and was using the chains to perch on while she fed. I was sitting as still as could be, but my mouth was hanging open in awwwww! I have/had 3 baskets to fill, and as I was doing so, realized that I didn't have enough flowers to make good enough arrangements, so now......it's off to HD I go, and you can bet I'll be picking out some more specific hummer plants. I am sooooooooo excited. I just had to share it! Oh, and pots for the edge of my porch, too. This could be trouble :) Maybe I'll get some pics later and post

The plants that they were feasting from are 'Safari Pink' Nemesia fruticans. Here's that basket

WOW! Very pretty, PiggyPoo! I would have never thought to use upright instead of vining or clumping flowers in a hanging basket. It looks really nice. That is very interesting that the hummers like those flowers. Must produce some sweet nectar! :-) Be sure to share any other baskets you design, too! I want to see them all!!!! :-)

Okay, nemesia it is! Thanks for the heads up. The white ones, at least at my nursery, smell quite lovely!
