What should I do?

Phoenix, AZ

I was at one of my favorite plant nurseries today and one of the Brugs there had 3 seed pods on it :) They all know me there since I'm ALWAYS there and leave most of my $$$ there. I asked if I could have one of the seed pods? They said "no problem, help yourself!" My question is....what should I do? It's about 6 inches long. Do I let it dry? Open it up? Any chance I'll get some viable seeds?

Open it and hope for brown seeds. If they are white plant asap, if they are brown you can either plant them or let them dry and plant as you want to.

Good Luck!

I'll have to get up enough courage to open it :O

I haven't had many pods ripen for me. So I'm not an expert on this, but I've waited until the pod dries, turns brown or the stem dries. I just harvest one pod off my Silver Dawn. No idea who the pa was. The seeds inside were blackish brown. Open it up and remove the contents. I believe brown means the seed are ripe. If you want seed and don't mind seeds from an unknown pollen donor (either Audrey Hepburn or Shirley's Peach), I'll send you some seed as soon as they are dry enough to travel. D-mail me your address.

Yes, the seeds turn brown as they ripen.

I loved that site, Veronica. I had fun looking at all the brugs.

Okay, worked up the courage to open it. Has anyone had luck sprouting white seeds?

Actually they are not that immature. I bet you get some live seedlings from those. You need to pot them up right away though for they will shrivel to nothing fast.

Good luck!
