I think I've got a Pudica cutting.

New Port Richey, FL(Zone 9b)

I went to a round-up today and was pleasantly surprised to get a plumeria cutting .The leaves which were still on it all were in excellant condition. They have the look of the Pudica's leaves.Where it was cut from it's mother was healed over which looked like a few days ago.I potted it up and treated just like any other cutting with exception of leaving the leaves on it.Do you guys think I should nip those leaves off or take a chance. It has just turned into Plumeria weather here 80's day low 70's night.
Oh by the way the Round up was fantastic. So many great people I got to meet face to face without a keyboard in site. lol

Hi Don, you need to remove them before rooting. They will transpire water until you do, and they will fall off anyway in a matter of days, but you don't want them releasing the moisture from the cutting. Just cut them off at the base and let the leaf bases fall off on their own. That method will cause the least amount of sap to bleed. I'm glad you had a nice time at the round up. You should have no trouble rooting that cutting now that your weather is ideal.

Thanks Clare, I'm always hoping for a short cut, those leaves are so much diffferant than the usual plumeria,I should know better. Thanks again.

Hi Don, my pleasure! That plumeria is a great bloomer, and I know you will be happy with it. I only wish the flowers had a scent!
